We live, serve, and pray together so that our work is filled with love.
Our Mission Interns are rooted in a life of prayer and community in the Catholic tradition. This allows them to pour out their hearts into the neighborhoods in which they live and serve.
We dare to enter the mess of one another’s lives and learn what it means to give in sacrificial love.
Join us in a year of joy-filled service that will change your life forever!

How did the Mission Internship start?
In 2012, a small group of friends were reading way too much Dorothy Day, which challenged them to bring their faith in touch with local injustices. Through prayer and study, they felt called to live out more deeply the Works of Mercy.
Around the same time, these friends stumbled upon a local nonprofit called the Riverwest Food Pantry. They intentionally chose to move into the same neighborhood as the food pantry and found themselves beginning to build friendships with residents of the neighborhood, parishioners, and volunteers.
From this came the beginning of the Mission Internship.
The Mission Internship has “officially” had mission interns since 2015. We have found that it is essential to have a small community that lives deeply within our culture of prayer, generosity, and friendship, to carry love to the larger community. In this we have rediscovered what it means to be “neighbor” or “kin” with everyone else we encounter.
This work is really the fruit of a living relationship with a God who is in love with us, who encounters us in the Sacraments in church, as well as in the streets and homes of our neighborhood.
Shannon & Samantha, the first two friends to move into the Riverwest neighborhood with a desire to live among those whom they served.
