Mongolian Ground Bison

Ingredients 

Number of Servings: 3

  • ½ onion, cut small dices

  • 3-4 cloves Garlic finely chopped

  • 5-6 green onions cut thin slices

  • 2/3 lbs ground bison*

  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 hot red chili pepper (optional)

Beef Marinade

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp ginger paste finely grated ginger

  • ¼ tsp white/black pepper

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce

  • ¼ cup chicken stock/broth

  • ½ tsp corn/potato starch

Cook Time: 10 min

Total Time: 25 min

  1. Mix the thawed ground bison with sesame oil, chopped ginger, and white pepper. Marinate for 15 mins and set aside.

  2. Finely chop the garlic cloves, cut spring onions and chili pepper into thin slices, and dice the onion into small pieces.

  3. Heat the pan to medium high heat, drizzle two tablespoons of oil and add the chopped garlic and stir for few seconds then add the onions and stir for 1 min.

  4. Add the marinated beef and stir till the beef slightly color changed, then add the sauce mixture in. Stir fry with medium high heat until the sauce is absorbed, and beef is cooked.

  5. Add chili slices and stir for a few seconds. Turn off the heat and add the green onion slices. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly. Salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve over cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions. Enjoy!
